Namamgunga is to host Catholic Students’ Workshop.

Mt. St. Mary’s College Namagunga is to  host the annual Catholic Students Workshop (CSW) from 28th-31st August 2019. The CSW is organized by the department of Education Lugazi Diocese with focus on Catechesis(Catechesis is the act of handing on the Word of God intended to inform the faith community and candidates for initiation into the Church about the teachings of Christ, transmitted by the Apostles to the Church. Catechesis also involves the lifelong effort of forming people into witnesses to Christ and opening their hearts to the spiritual transformation given by the Holy Spirit), leadership formation and entrepreneurship. Various schools within the diocese host the event on a rotational basis. The last CSW was hosted by St. Joseph’s SS Nagalama with attendance of 800 Catholic students from Lugazi Diocese with focus on the theme “Living my Catechism as a Christian Leader”.

The daily program  started with Eucharistic celebration  followed by 1st  presentation , breakfast,  2nd presentation  lunch , 3rd presentation and supper. The daily programs were concluded with night prayers and a blessing. Students engaged   in various co circular activities like sports, talent show etc. The last CSW was officially opened by Msgr. Dr. Richard Kayondo   with Eucharistic celebration. The Vicar called students to embrace their Catholic identity. The Main topics addressed by notable speakers included:

  • Keeping your Body Health and Holy.
  • Burning Issues in School.
  • Catholic Apologetics.
  • Saving Culture.
  • Coping With school authorities and family.
  • Advantages of the CSW

Closing mass was celebrated by the ordinary of Lugazi diocese Rt. Rev. Bishop Christopher Kakooza who stressed the need of making good choices by looking at Christ. He went ahead to stress the need to analyze the philosophy of the choices students make if they are ends. He encouraged students to scrutiny choices they make.

This year’s CSW will be at a fee of UGX 40,000 payable to teacher chaplains of respective schools.
